Kounian

The Kounian Project (194km2) is located just over 20km to the East of the +7Moz Au Morila Mine.
The project straddles the Banifing shear zone, a major northeast trending fault zone that separates two structural domains in the region. The western portion is host to the same greenstone terrain dominated by intrusions that hosts the Morila deposit, and to the east is predominantly Birimian aged sediments. Field reconnaissance in this licence area noted the presence of a large number of artisinal miners targeting alluvial gold in local stream systems
IGS has completed 1091 auger holes in November at Kounian as part of an early field season auger program on higher relief areas across the licence. Results display strongest gold anomalism in the northwest of the permit some 6 kilometres west of the Banifing shear. Limited additional auger sampling is proposed for the next field season, to extend the soil auger gold anomaly.
